Yaman Gürsel
(LL.M, PhD) has worked on a number of international arbitrations related to
commercial and sports-related matters, subject to Swiss and Turkish substantive
law, relating to M&A, turnkey construction, consortium, and financing
disputes at cross-border level.
Yaman holds an LL.M. (magna cum laude)
in International Business Law from the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, and
an LL.B. from Istanbul Bilgi University, Turkey. He is currently completing his
Ph.D. at the University of Fribourg on non-possessory secured transactions for
SMEs. Yaman has participated in the Willem C. VIS International Commercial
Arbitration Moot and has been coaching the VIS moot team of Istanbul Bilgi
University for almost a decade now. Yaman is also a published author of several
peer-reviewed articles.
Yaman is fluent in English, French, and
Turkish and has a working knowledge of German. Yaman has trained and worked at
a top-tier Turkish law firm specializing in maritime, transportation and
insurance law, and subsequently for leading Swiss arbitration boutiques.
As a jurist trained in the U.S.A,
Switzerland and Turkey, he is admitted to Istanbul Bar.
